2008
Virginia Jaguar Club
Concours d'Elegance

VJC Concours is coming September 14th 2008

The eight annual Virginia Jaguar Club Concours d'Elegance for 2008 is Sunday, September 14th.

As in years past, we will have a club meeting and gladly invite all Jaguar owners visiting the show to join us at 7:00 PM on the Saturday night before the show at LA GROTTA restaurant in Schokoe Slip for a social evening and a short business meeting. You can begin participating by printing out the Registration & Application Form to enter. (Click on link in left sidebar please.) If you are a JCNA member, this is an officially sanctioned event that will count towards national point totals.

The car show is to the right of this picture on Brown's Island The Concours will be held in conjunction within the Central Virginia British Car Club's annual "Classics on the James" car show, honoring classic British and European made automobiles. This year, the show will honor the cars of Ferrari.

Like the successful shows over the previous years, the location again will be at the impressive vista overlooking the James River, and the newly refurbished Canal Walk in downtown Richmond at historic Brown's Island. This is one of the most outstanding car shows in the eastern seaboard. It is also conveniently located again in its sixth year now in downtown Richmond. Brown's Island is at the bottom of the map Like the success of last four years, this fabulous location overlooking the best that Richmond has to offer.

Because this is a sanctioned JCNA show, we will be giving out awards based on JCNA "Championship" or "Driven" classes immediately after the awards for the BC Show at approximately 2:00 P.M. to accomodate those that need to drive home Sunday night. You do not need to be present to receive an award.

If you have not been to "The Capitol of the Old South", the trip alone is worth it. Richmond is over 300 years old, with many local dining spots-- like historic, vintage, Shockoe Slip, just 5 minutes from the Brown's Island Car Show. Other night spots and resturants are within walking distance at "The Happening" Shockoe Bottom where Havana '59 is a well visited resturant and bar.

The Host Hotel is within sight and walking distance of the Brown's Island Show, located conveniently at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 555 East Canal St. Richmond, VA 23219. Please make Hotel reservations directly with the Crowne Plaza by September 1st. Special rates have been arranged, but please mention you are with the Central Virginia British Car Club/Jaguar Car Show (800) 227-6963 or (804) 788-0900 Reserved rooms go quickly so please call well in advance to ensure the special rate. Parking is Available for a slight extra charge.

Letter from the President about this Year's Concours

Welcome to the 2008 VJC Concours and Jaguar car show. Please support the VJC by bringing your Jaguar to the Concours (if you want it judged for JCNA points) or just give it a wash and bring it to the show for everyone to enjoy. The event will be held at 0900 on Sunday Sept 14th in conjunction with the CVBCC's European Classics Car Day at Browns Island, Richmond, Virginia. The VJC Concours is a JCNA sanctioned event for those wanting JCNA points.

The VJC event will be held in conjunction with CVBCC's well run and scenic venue at Brown's Island. VJC car show participants must register with CVBCC via their website at http://www.cvbcc.com . For anyone out of town, CVBCC has arranged for a special rate at the Crowne Plaza at 555 E Canal. Registering with the CVBCC allows you to bring your Jaguar to our Jaguar car show and also to participate in CVBCC events, use the hospitality suite at the Crowne Plaza, and join the Road Ralley on Saturday afternoon. The CVBCC website has information on all these issues. Cost to enter the general European Car Show is $35 per car.

Jaguars will be located at the far end of Brown's Island as before. Last year we again had almost 50 beautiful Jaguars at the show. VJC issues a cordial invitation for you to join our pre-show dinner at the atmospheric La Grotta in Shockoe Slip at 7 P.M. on Saturday evening. The Slip area will be restricted to Classic European cars and we will congregate with our Jaguars by the fountain on Cary St from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Security will be provided while we dine.

Please let me know by Wednesday, September 12th if you plan to attend the dinner via email to davidmharrison2003@yahoo.com or call me at 804-748-4601. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

JCNA Concours participants NEED TO REGISTER (in addition to the CVBCC registration) via the form on the VJC web site at www.vajaguarclub.com .

NOTE: Unlike previous years, last minute registration from the European Car Show entrance can NOT be done at the gate, so please register early! However, if you are registered with CVBCC but not with VJC, we will accept entrants the day of the show.

Looking forward to seeing you and your Jaguar at this year's event.

David Harrison
VJC President
